Vitafusion Gummies Recalled Due to Possible Traces of Metal

The FDA has announced that Vitafusion has done a voluntary recall of certain products. These products are vitamin gummies that may be contaminated with traces of metal mesh. 

These Vitafusion vitamin supplements are produced by Church and Dwight and are currently being recalled — specifically, those gummies produced between October 9, 2020, and November 3, 2020. Likewise, these gummies were sold both in-store and through eCommerce websites from November 13, 2020, up until April 9, 2021.

One of the products that may be contaminated is the Vitafusion Kids Melatonin. This is a melatonin supplement that is meant to help children struggling with sleep issues. The over-the-counter sleep aid for children is not the only gummy product that may be contaminated, but it is the most alarming as it is marketed to children.   

The products being recalled include the previously-mentioned kids’ melatonin supplement (50ct), the Vitafusion Fibre Well supplement (220ct and 90ct versions), Vitafusion SleepWell (250ct), Vitafusion MultiVites (150ct), and the melatonin supplements for adults (44ct and 140ct versions). No other Vitafusion products were affected by the recall. 

The possibility of these products containing metal mesh material is a problem because ingesting metal can lead to specific health issues. In most severe cases, consuming metal mesh can damage a person’s digestive tract. 

According to the FDA, nobody has come forward with any serious injuries or health problems due to ingesting these products as of yet.
