New Netflix Movie Looks at a World Without Sleep

If you’re an avid Netflix viewer, you might have noticed a science fiction film called “Awake” that’s recently been released. It’s a movie that imagines a world in which people can no longer sleep. As we know, sleep deprivation can cause a whole host of issues within a few days. In the movie, this is clear from the start. People are going crazy from lack of sleep. 

Of course, it’s not entirely realistic. In the film, people can’t sleep due to the power going out around the world, not a neurological disorder. Their behavior is not what one would expect from sleep deprivation caused by a medical condition. It’s a post-apocalyptic film and should be taken with a grain of salt. 

In the movie, there’s one small girl who can still sleep. The United States government goes on a mission to find out why she can sleep when the rest of the world can’t. It’s not realistic, but it is entertaining. 

We don’t live in a post-apocalyptic world, however. If you struggle to sleep, there are things that can help you. For starters, make sure that you’re comfortable with a decent mattress. Once you’re comfortable, you can look into over-the-counter sleep aids or CBD oils that help you fall asleep. Finally, if you are still unable to sleep, you should speak to your doctor about prescription medications.
